Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information CrackMyWord (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit our website, and how we use it. We've tried to keep it short and in plain English.
1. The short version
We don't collect personal information from you. We don't ask for your name, email, or phone number. We don't have user accounts. The only data stored about you is a small cookie on your own device that remembers your in-progress game.
2. Information we collect automatically
Like nearly every website on the internet, our hosting provider may automatically log certain technical information when you visit, including:
- Your IP address (usually anonymized in logs).
- Browser type and version.
- Operating system.
- Referring page and pages visited.
- Approximate country / region derived from IP.
We use this information only to keep the site running, prevent abuse, and understand general traffic patterns. We don't combine it with anything that identifies you personally.
3. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. A cookie is a tiny text file that a website asks your browser to store, and it stays on your device.
- Game state cookie. Remembers how many guesses you've used and whether you've already completed the daily word. This is essential for the game to work after a page refresh. It expires after a few days.
- Advertising cookies. If we display ads (see section 4), third-party advertising partners may set cookies or use local storage to deliver and measure ads. These are governed by those partners' own privacy policies.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking the game state cookie will simply reset your current puzzle.
4. Advertising
To keep the site free, we may display ads served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense.
- Ad partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our site or other sites.
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and/or other sites.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
5. Third-party links
Sometimes we link to other websites (for example, in our privacy resources above). We're not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.
6. Children's privacy
CrackMyWord is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
7. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we handle. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Because we don't collect personal information, there's usually nothing for us to delete or hand back. If you have questions or requests about your data, you can contact us using the details on our Contact page.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, we'll try to give more prominent notice.
10. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please reach out via our Contact page.
