How to play CrackMyWord
CrackMyWord is a simple word guessing game. Each guess gives you clues about the secret 5-letter word.

Make your first guess
Type any 5-letter word and press Enter. A great first word uses a mix of common vowels and consonants, like CRANE, SLATE, or ABOUT.

Read the colors
After each guess, every tile turns one of three colors:
- Green — the letter is in the word and in the right position.
- Yellow — the letter is in the word, but in a different position.
- Gray — the letter isn't in the word at all.

Use the clues to narrow down
Keep letters that turned green or yellow. Drop letters that turned gray. Re-use yellow letters in new positions.

Stay within 6 tries
You only get 6 attempts. Use each guess to test new letters while keeping what you already know.

Win or learn the answer
Solve it in as few tries as possible. If you run out, we'll reveal the word so you can do better tomorrow.
Quick tips for your first word
- Use two or three different vowels in your opening guess.
- Mix in common consonants like R, S, T, L, and N.
- Don't repeat a letter you've already proven is absent.
- If you get a yellow letter, try it in a different slot on your next guess.
